Shana l. Phelps

Shana l. Phelps is a great poet I saw in LeMoyne College's Salamander journal, issue 5 here. Her piece "Strawberry" was excellent, with great skill. I can't wait to see her later work. There was a great sense of Imagism with great moments of eerieness a la the film Last Year at Marienbad

Here's an excerpt:

[...]
Lift, let your lips
Dance across sweet
Morning dew,
The waking wetness drink.

Tender berry straining
To feel caress of teeth
Holding juice succulent
To wash past lips
Over taste buds flowing
Into being.
Indulge, swallow
Lavish this fruit
From tip to hilt
Your hunger-ache fulfilled
A sunset fire —
Red
