I was reading the Beltway Poetry Quarterly and this poem "Evanescence" here [with more information] immediately stood out, it's by Angelina Weld Grimké [1880-1958]. She was an African American poet who's work was happening just as or before the Harlem Renaissance began.

You are like a pale purple flower In the blue spring dusk
You are like a yellow star Budding and blowing In an apricot sky [...]
