Robert Berold, from South Africa, has a great poem "The Return" here at PoetryInternational--I knew I had to highlight him immediately. He's got a really good style of clean, complex layers of imagery with rainforest or nature-focused tough--his poem "Boubou" here is great too.
Here's a quick excerpt:
Sounds are rich in the forest of return
sourbush smells and hints of fear
Behind me is the ink of the cathedral
and the soft raindrops which slant the air. [...]
And here's one from "The Return:"
the gods return
we hear them
unpacking on the stairs
the ones who came from
the gate of crocodiles [...]
