Sueyeun Juliette Lee

I like Sueyeun Juliette Lee's piece "from in an american mirror" in EOAGH issue five here. It is one of those interesting deconstructive poems, that's almost like Bach. I liked the start, many of the lines, and especially liked the end. It was well done. I usually favor more old fashioned styles, but modern ones can be done if they're carefully thought out.

I liked the beginning, which has a great sense of feeling, almost like a road trip in the summer:

in an american mirror, we consume careworn miniseries in an
overrun narcosis. never casanovas, we immure eros’s winsome
orisons in a cocaine snow, crown venus in vain, anemic verses. a new
semi-civics arises in our cinema, so we assume we evince some
common sense as our veins cave in, as amour remains a mere
causerie. romance is now an era we reminisce over wine--rose. no
ruin in cinemax

And also this was great:

so we immunize our veins. our reconnaissance is a maraca in a summer sunrise, a massacre in a viscous view. o sea, o sensuous misnomer anon, evanesce in our sorrow.

And the ending, I loved:

can we mimic ravenous mummies in caracas. our nominee is a cow, once more. issue me a new visa in micronesia. i remain concise or resume as an acme in armor. in an american minivan, we move in a neon manner, as oxen amorous in snow. so our moon announces america in a sonorous weave, one we issue in menses. a reunion in mexico means some new souvenirs.
