Tinatin Mgvdliashvili

I recently read a really interesting, great poem by Tinatin Mgvdliashvili from Georgia in Eastern Europe here at the PoetryTranslationCentre. Her work was translated by Natalia Bukia-Peters and The Poetry Translation WorkshopHere's more information at the PoetryTranslationCentre.

She has great imagery, and does strong emotion well--few do, she has a rare talent. Here's an excerpt of the opening:

The sun has carved a white cameo on the window of the Lord.
Perhaps tonight in Ichkeria the sky is also white.
The sky is white and the Chechen eagles cannot sleep -
How could they sleep?
It's snowing. The ruined vineyard is turning pale. [...]
