Davertige

One poet I want to highlight is Davertige [1940-2004, more info here] from Haiti. His work is beautiful. It's like a new voice doing D'Annunzio, a similar beautiful tone of thought.

His poem "Omabarigore" here has great lines, lines that are really brilliant--quite like Gabriele D'Annunzio and better, like:
[...]
On their stems that the winds stifle
In the middle of forests that resonate from our senses
Awakened trees that know our secrets [...]

Sur leur tige que les vents bâillonnent
Au milieu des forêts qui résonnent de nos sens
Des arbres sont debout qui connaissent nos secrets
