Philip Schaefer's piece in NightBlock, issue 3, called "Bear Love Magic Porn Ballad" is very exceptional [despite the title], it has a very strong voice. It has a great intensity, something the novel Cold Mountain was trying for and sometimes evoked. This poem has a very clear, clawing pull--you can immediately fall into it. It works on many levels, making it even more interesting.
