Christopher Mulrooney

We have to do a focus on a great piece, "Hacienda", by Christopher Mulrooney in vol. 5, no. 4 Summer 2014 at LostCoastReview. Poetry has many genres, way more than fiction, and one of those is the American desert, the West. This piece is a classic take on the ambience, lifestyle and feeling of the place, in a way that echoes with the wide open spaces of air and cliffs and flatlands. It's concise but fits the tone of the locale portrayed.

when the lights turn purple and gorgeous in the West
and Eastern lies the cactus-green sunrise
above the ammonia gray and indigo sandstone
