We're a huge fan of Robert Ricardo Reese, his pieces in
Pinwheel Vol. 2, Spring 2013 are incredible. His piece "
The World is Not an Alabaster Bathtub" is really incisive, and does gothic and modern Poe-esque proud. Few people can pull off his style here--and his other work, in other styles, is equally impressive.

His other work I particularly like as well, like his "She The Middle Daughter", a great piece.
